When can you see tulips in London?
Tulips certainly get overshadowed by the ultra-popular cherry blossom season in London, but they share the same blooming season in April.
Some factors impact when tulips bloom. The weather plays an important role – milder winter and spring weather can result in earlier but shorter blooming seasons. Some tulip varieties naturally bloom earlier than others, but tulip gardens often plant a mix of tulip varieties to ensure the longest-possible flower displays.
Having this in mind, you can usually expect to see tulips around London between late-March and mid-May.
London tulip season 2026 forecast
Tulip gardens and fields around London have announced dates for the tulip season, from the last weekend of March and throughout April 2026.
How long do tulips last in London?
Keeping in mind that different tulip varieties bloom at different times, and depending on the weather, it is possible to see tulips in and around London anywhere between late-March and mid-May.
Once a tulip blooms, it can last for 1-2 weeks. Depending on the weather, this period can be shorter or longer, but most tulip gardens and fields plant a mix of different varieties together so that there are always flowering tulips at any one time.
Please avoid picking the tulips! It’s illegal in the UK to pick flowers from public spaces and council-maintained areas.
In some tulip gardens and fields, flower cutting is allowed – but unless specifically stated, it’s usually prohibited to harvest from the flower displays. Most commonly, tulip gardens and fields will have a dedicated flower shop from where you can purchase tulips and other flower bouquets to bring home (or take photos with!).
Where to see tulips in London?
While the largest tulip fields are located outside of London’s city centre, tulips are also planted in some London parks and green spaces.
The Victoria Embankment Gardens are some of the most popular gardens for spotting tulips in London.
Royal Parks like Greenwich Park, Hyde Park, Regents Park, St. James’s Park, and a few others also display tulips each spring and can be admired. While other landmarks, like St. Paul’s Cathedral and The Royal Exchange, also feature tulips in their small gardens.

Are there tulip fields in London?
While this season is very popular for people to go on walks and take photos around the city’s parks and gardens, you must venture outside London’s city centre to find the much-desired long and vibrant tulip fields.
Usually, these are private fields that open their displays to the public for a fee. Two of the most popular tulip festivals around London are Tulleys Tulip Fest and Norfolk Tulips, with the first being much easier to reach from London, just over 1 hour away from the city centre.
